Since my last post was a full novel of text...
I thought I would start to do an update with pictures.
...
This was our Lovely (or not so lovely) trip to the zoo,
Notice how flushed we all are as we are baking in the sun.

Um... one thing I will have to say is I am totally disappointed in the zoo.

Um... one thing I will have to say is I am totally disappointed in the zoo.
...
I remember going there for an elementary field trip and it seemed so cool.
...
When we went I swear the elephants looked sick.
The grounds weren't kept very clean (reminded me of Lagoon, with far more germs)
And it totally lacked the WOW experience.
...
I don't know...
....
maybe they should get more funding...
...
or donate the animals to some place that
can make a better or bigger place for them to live.
...
In a way it was more sad to see all the animals in such tight spaces.
...
So riding the 193 second train ride
(which wouldn't have been worth the $1.50 per person had I not gotten free tickets)
was the best part of the zoo to him.
...
Too bad there was only like 3 animals crammed in cages along the way.
...
They decorated the rest of the train ride with RIP fake grave sites for Jesse James
(which I still cannot figure out how that had anything to do with a zoo experience).
The famous "overheated truck" experience.
I'm so glad Kaden was in somewhat of a good mood while we were stuck there in the heat.
Did I mention that not only was it 100 degrees outside,
but we had to blast the heater on the way home?
And there is photo update #1 :)

you are a good sport! man, i don't know what i'd do if all of that happened to me! the hogle zoo does kind of suck, huh?
I agree on the Zoo being so much different than it used to be. I can't belive some families buy season passes!
We went earlier this summer, and I don't think I'll be going back for a while. It's a once every three years event.
Okay, so I feel the need to semi defend the zoo. Me being an animal person and all...
Utah's Hogle Zoo is the ONLY place in Utah that is credited by the AZA (Assoication of Zoo's and Aquarium's).
Tracy Aviary lost theirs because their habitat's were'nt being updated. Lagoon doesn't come close to being certified (they lack the whole Education thing).
The zoo is trying to raise money to bring back what looks like to be an amazing Polar bear, seal/sealion habitat along with other things. But it is oging to cost them over 30 million to make.
The zoo has gone along way to try and make their habitat's more updated. And from what I've seen, they've done a pretty good job with Elephant Encounter and Asian Highlands. Their habitat's go above and beyond what is deemed safe (and not "cramped) by the government because the AZA has much higher standards than the government.
As for the grounds being dirty, I really can't defend them much other than by saying that they don't have a whole grounds crew that hoses down the zoo each night like Lagoon does. I know that the zoo doesn't have much money, most zoo's don't have it in their budgets to have something like that.
I love going to Hogle Zoo. It's given me so much, and has helped get me to where I am today.
